Voting is also an opportunity to remove from office the County Judges and Commissioners who don’t like Texas history or bother to return phone calls and emails.
Here’s how to do it:

    1. Get registered to vote!
    2. Identify your precinct number.

At the top of your voter registration card you will find your Voting Precinct Number.

    1. Identify who your county commissioner is.

Tip: there are only four (4) commissioner precincts in Grayson County. If your county judge or commissioner doesn’t understand the importance of Texas history, or doesn’t return your phone calls or emails, then you must decide if you want to replace them with people who will. Remember, they work for you. Would you retain an employee who never returns your phone calls? Your vote determines the quality of Grayson County leadership.

    1. Put the election date on your calendar and show up to vote.

If you have a disability or are over 65, you may apply for absentee voting (also known as mail-in voting) which is statistically one of the safest, most secure forms of voting in the United States. For latest information on this, visit votetexas.gov.

Let’s Get This Historical Marker Placed

For almost a century, this tragic yet historic event has been intentionally left out of the historical record.

“We as a community will no longer be told that certain parts of the past are too uncomfortable to acknowledge. History belongs to the people.”
